Simpler colonial days of America were certainly just that, simpler. Even so, the lifestyle and things that they needed to do to support it were probably difficult to do everyday. Although it was simpler, many people had a hard time getting by when changes in weather occurred or even when simple rain storms ruined a day’s work of freshly clean laundry.

The tough thing about laundry back then was that it was all done by hand. Not only were they hand washed, but 1800 American mens clothing was probably pretty tough to clean.
