The New Mens Fine Clothing Market

Mens Fine ClothingClothing makers are now targeting men more than ever before. Over the past year, sales of men's apparel rose 2.6 percent to $56.3 billion. The women's apparel market only saw a 1.9 percent growth. But women still spend a lot more than men.

This makes one of the ultimate goals of many makers of mens fine clothing to get men to shop more like women. This means making more impulse purchases and being open to items they didn't intend to buy when they walked into the store. Most men know what they are looking for when they go into a store and are unlikely to pick up anything extra. It is also much more difficult to persuade men to spend big money on brand names. Women are more fashion-conscious and brand-conscious; men see less value in buying brands.

Big Mens Clothing is Returned After Christmas

Big Mens ClothingThe holiday shopping season doesn't even end on Christmas. Managers at retail stores expect to see a lot of business on December 26th and the days after as shoppers flock to stores in order to return unwanted gifts, cash in gift cards, and take advantage of the after-Christmas sales.

Wal-Mart, Target, and Kohl's all plan to keep their return registers fully staffed. Men's clothing is the most returned item. This is particularly so at stores like Wal-Mart because their sizes are larger than at other stores. So big mens clothing is even too big when it comes from Wal-Mart.

The stores are also offering discounts on holiday items, and other great deals. This makes it the perfect time to use gift cards. So don't expect the crowds to die down until at least January 6th, retailers say.

Big and Tall Mens Dress Clothing Made to Order in New Store

Big and Tall Mens Dress ClothingHermes and Tiffany just opened a new store in New York's Wall Street district with an emphasis on menswear and accessories. This store is the brand's first to feature a separate salon that only sells made-to-measure men's clothing. This is a bonus for men interested in high-quality big and tall mens dress clothing, which is usually difficult to find.

There has been a recent surge in stores that are catering more to men and their clothing. Men are now doing more of their own shopping than they have ever done before. Last year, seventy-five percent of men bought most of their own clothes, compared with just fifty-two percent in 1995.

Mens Designer Clothing Fuels Internet Communities

Mens Designer ClothingThere is a new and growing community of gentlemen who meet online to debate, in sometimes- obsessive detail, the features and history of fine clothing. Until recently it was a world familiar predominantly to aristocrats, but now anyone intrigued by the kind of mens designer clothing that is popular can find out more by joining an Internet community.

This is a knowledgeable resource for anyone looking for an entry into the world of fine dressing, and a space where its enthusiasts can debate the finer points of their hobby. These sites can teach all the nuances of mens designer clothing. What you won't find, however, are definitive declarations of how a gentleman should dress. The bread and butter of these sites is debate, as members hash out the types of topics that divide them. The tone is always respectful, but with strong intensity.

Mens Leather Clothing Designer Has New Line

Mens Leather ClothingThe man behind the Prophetik clothing is a 29-year old Jeff Garner from Franklin Tennessee. He grew up there on a horse farm and still has his headquarters there. Started six years ago, Prophetik clothing is in dozens of boutiques and specialty stores. It includes men and women's designs, as well as a small children's segment.

The new collection from Prophetik is considered retro resonance. Garner uses lace, ruffles, puffed sleeves and other touches from the period. He has also incorporated fur and velour. However, he steers away from a lot of embellishment and prints. Another thing Garner hasn't done is jump on the jeans bandwagon. He has only one pair, which combines denim, corduroy and leather. He has used a lot of mens leather clothing in his lines in the past.

Single Mom Starts Business Selling Big and Tall Mens Clothing

Big and Tall Mens ClothingStarting your own business from scratch is not an easy task, but Army veteran Brandi Ramos of Springfield, Illinois, did it. She was a single mother in need of some extra income, so she started an online retail career selling big and tall mens clothing on eBay.

Three years later, the 32 year old mother of four, makes a good living working online out of her basement, which is packed with hanging displays and baker's racks stacked with Tupperware containing items such as underwear and belts. Ramos tries to offer quick service, answering all emails within four to six hours. She claims to make around $25,000 on $100,000 sales each year, and even earns a few extra bucks per order on shipping.

Famous Club Now one of the Varvatos Mens Clothing Stores

Mens Clothing StoresThe building formerly home to legendary New York music club CBGB will soon be one of many mens clothing stores from designer John Varvatos. The club CBGB closed its doors in October 2006 after 33 years. The Bowery club served as a launching pad for the Ramones, Television, Blondie, Talking Heads, the Patti Smith Group and many other bands that would become synonymous with punk rock and its offshoots.

A stage permanently integrated into the store design and an in-store performance series are among the distinctive plans aimed at honoring the space's history. The club had closed because the founder, Hilly Kristal, died in August at age 75, after a hard battle with lung cancer.
